To read Luke chapters 23 and 24 is not merely to know the Cross and the resurrection of Jesus as events that took place long ago. It is to know the meaning of the suffering and death that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, underwent in order to save sinners, and to believe in the heart the gospel of the water and the Spirit that He completed with the baptism He received from John the Baptist, the Cross, and the resurrection. It is also to learn what the person who has received the remission of sin must preach as he lives, holding the hope of the resurrection.
