Among the writers of the Gospels, Luke is a very gentle person in human terms. Mark, who wrote the Gospel of Mark, is a man of faith and very direct. Matthew, who wrote the Gospel of Matthew, was a tax collector. He was a man who had collected taxes, but after he became a disciple of Jesus he did splendid work. Matthew saw Jesus as the King. So he recorded every event from the viewpoint of Jesus the King. The Apostle John is the one among the disciples who was spiritually closest to the Lord and had the deepest heart. He speaks of Jesus Christ being God on a very high level. From that viewpoint, John carefully observed and recorded the thirty-three years of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry.
